On May 5th and May 5th 2017,  Lakeshorts International Short Film Festival once again exceeded the expectations of all who attended.  Guests walked the signature “Blue Carpet” amidst Lakeshorts banners, cameras and film crews and alongside television and film personalities. Filmmakers from continents away made the trek.  All were greeted by the Balintore Trio (Who have played for the Governor General) compliments of KPMG.  No details were overlooked from “Oscar Style” award photos, to delectable food offerings by local restaurants “Pulcinella”, “Kothar” and “Thrive.” Steam Whistle Breweries and Diamond Estates winery provided refreshments. “Dark Horse”  had guests dancing into the wee hours. Late night appetites were capped off with Toronto’s renowned FBI Pizza.

The ScotiaBank Loved and Local screening was hosted by Richard Crouse and the The Gala was hosted by Rick Roberts. Each night was started off with a dance performance by Ballet Creole.

16 films were selected from almost 200 submissions from around the world, representing: Canada, USA, Brazil, Bulgaria, France, Luxembourg and the UK. From comedy and animation to biting dramas that tackle today’s hot-button issues, Lakeshorts indeed (again) brought the world of cutting-edge independent filmmaking to South Etobicoke!

Lakeshorts International Film Festival is produced by Fifth Ground Entertainment in association with Lakeshore Arts. Learn more about the festival, and how you can apply at lakeshorts.ca.
